Kohler is next level

I had the opportunity to listen to David Kohler, CEO & G4 of Kohler, speak about business, leadership, & stewardship.

Kohler has grown since the 1970s from a $160MM organization to a $9.5 BN+ international enterprise.

While hearing David speak, I was blown away by the extraordinary intentionality up & down the organization.

My two biggest takeaways from the conversation with David Kohler:

  1. The only way to survive is staying DISCIPLINED: innovation (push boundaries), ROI (profits = oxygen), AND values (behaviors true to the spirit of your roots)

  2. Leadership requires challenging your team (tension) AND connection (care)

I think this is a paradigm worth reflecting upon like Kohler leadership does.

Challenge is required to grow the organization. There is no standing still.

Connection is mandatory to have an environment to use tension to move forward productively.

If we stay DISCIPLINED like Kohler, then time is on our side!

Onward,

Matt
