Greatest lesson my Mom taught me

It was the morning of exams my junior year of high school. I was groggy and tired of school. I was that typical high school student that considered a “gentleman’s B” acceptable while my parents wanted me to give my best. I was in the end of the year “funk” before summer…

I came down the stairs that May morning with a load of exams and into the kitchen I walked with a plate full of pancakes and an omelette. My mom welcomed me into the kitchen sitting on the barstool next to my hot breakfast with a cup of coffee smiling from ear to ear. This was the type of mom I had. Always finding ways to inspire and be apart of my journey.

My mom lived my childhood. She was there for me to lean on and to fuel me for whatever the day would bring.

"Life doesn't come with a manual, it comes with a Mother." - Salma Bucker

A mother's love warms the soul.

A mother's love is a little piece of heaven.

A mother's love creates a deep, solid foundation to get through the rainy days.

I don’t have the luxury of giving my mom a big hug on Mother’s Day… BUT I can reflect and cherish the profound impact she had on my life and perspective to lead with love on a daily basis.

Living your child’s childhood is the incredible skill of a leader to walk alongside others. My mom taught me the greatest leadership lesson of how to walk alongside others.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Onward,

Matt
