My stumbling - purpose of boot camp

Marine Boot camp is legendary. All of us have heard references to its difficulty and hardship. What is the purpose of this wildly brutal ritual?

It’s NOT about finding the strongest.

It’s NOT about finding the fittest.

It’s about weeding out the people who default to taking care of only themselves when under duress.

The Marines are in the business of building a team focused on working TOGETHER. A group of people devoted to each other. People depending on people.

Building a team working TOGETHER permits something of SIGNIFICANT value. Work that matters. It’s not what is done. It’s how it is done.
